LIFE UPDATE! I know things are usually pretty sunny around here on WGC, but wanted to let you guys in on what’s been going on behind the scenes. Thomas and I have miscarried 4 times in the last 18 months, the most recent being just a few weeks ago. Going through this we’ve learned a lot of things and I thought they were worth sharing if it helps anyone else! 1: Miscarriage is something that’s rarely discussed, especially in this always-beautiful-insta-friendly world. It‘s nothing to be ashamed of, nor should it have a stigma surrounding it. If we talked about it more, maybe more people would have an easier time processing. Miscarriages are far more common than we think. 2: We feel super lucky to have such an incredible network of friends, family and doctors around us who can help us handle all this. I know a lot of friends / acquaintances who feel very alone in this whole process and if you’re not comfortable talking to your friends or fam, ask your doctor as there are plenty of recommendations for places to turn for support.3: We live in a world where everyone seems to know everything about everyone’s business. I get asked on a daily basis when we are planning to have kids. I know it’s exciting to think about (I mean, could you imagine a little @whatsthomaseating running around 😂) but here’s the thing, we never know what anyone is going through / what their plans are / or if they even want kids. It’s a tough question for a lot of people, so just something to consider before asking.Ok back to my regularly scheduled guacamole loving sunshine-y posts. Sending all my love to anyone who needs it today and always ❤️

Gaby said they’ve “learned a lot of things” in the process that she wanted to share. “Miscarriage is something that’s rarely discussed, especially in this always-beautiful-insta-friendly world,” she wrote. “It‘s nothing to be ashamed of, nor should it have a stigma surrounding it. If we talked about it more, maybe more people would have an easier time processing. Miscarriages are far more common than we think.”

She’s right: Up to 15 percent of recognized pregnancies end in miscarriage, according to the March of Dimes—most of which happen in the first trimester, when a woman is up to 12 weeks pregnant.

Despite what they’ve been through, Gaby says that she and her husband feel “super lucky” to have a great support network. “I know a lot of friends / acquaintances who feel very alone in this whole process and if you’re not comfortable talking to your friends or fam, ask your doctor as there are plenty of recommendations for places to turn for support,” she said.

Gaby also addressed something that bothers a lot of women, particularly if they’ve suffered a miscarriage: Others asking when a couple is going to have kids. “I get asked on a daily basis when we are planning to have kids,” she said.

“I know it’s exciting to think about (I mean, could you imagine a little @whatsthomaseating running around 😂) but here’s the thing,” she continued. “We never know what anyone is going through / what their plans are / or if they even want kids. It’s a tough question for a lot of people, so just something to consider before asking.”

Gaby ended on this note: “Sending all my love to anyone who needs it today and always.” Right back at you, Gaby.
