How to sanitise your phone to protect against coronavirus

More than 50% of us pass the time on the loo by scrolling through our phones.

And if you’re guilty of this toilet habit , you could be spreading germs to your hands and face.

In the UK right now, the numbers of people testing positive for coronavirus are increasing.

So to combat the virus spreading, health officials have been coming up with ways to keep it contained.

The government have advised spending 20 seconds per hand wash to eliminate any grime.

It has also recommended keeping items disinfected and clean – so it’s probably worth giving your phone a once over.

COVID-19 can last for more than nine hours on our electrical devices without us knowing.

So to combat any hidden nasties, it’s important to sanitise our phones regularly.

One way to stop the spread on your screen is to use an ultra violet light sanitiser.

This device uses a rechargeable battery to power the UV sanitiser – and apparently, it kills 99.9% of bacteria on both your phone and the case.

When doing this, it’s best to avoid ones that contain alcohol.

These may damage the phone – and may not be 100% effective in eleminating germs.

Apple recommends using Clorox wipes, which are apparently safe to use on its devices.

These should be available at your local supermarket – though shoppers are finding it tricky to find essentials.

Some Brits have started stockpiling goods in case of emergency.

This has led to supplies depleting, which is worrying for some.
