Results were more significant for the over 50 age groups with an average weight loss of four to five pounds and a two percent reduction in BMI.

The study also found a 40 percent reduction in coughs and colds, a 30 percent reduction in headaches, improved energy and improved mood.

Probiotics offer a wide range of health benefits and evidence indicates that Lactobacillus gasser may help people with obesity lose weight and belly fat.

Certain types of probiotics may have modest effects on weight, especially when combined with a healthy, real food-based diet.
