Barack, Michelle Obama Attend Daughter Sasha's High School Graduation

Major milestone! Sasha Obama is officially a high school graduate, and her parents attended her Sunday, June 9, ceremony.

The 18-year-old, who is reportedly heading to the University of Michigan in the fall, received her diploma from Sidwell Friends School in Washington D.C. She was seen in a Facebook class photo wearing a white dress to the ceremony.

Barack Obama and Michelle Obama both showed up for the special occasion, along with their 20-year-old daughter, Malia. Sasha’s family members were photographed by graduation attendees.

Former Vice President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill Biden, were also spotted in the audience. His granddaughter Maisy was graduating alongside Sasha.

The politician, 76, shouted her out on Instagram that same day, writing, “Jill and I were so thrilled to be there today to watch our amazing granddaughter Maisy graduate from high school. Maisy, you make us so proud and we can’t wait to see what you do next with your talent, smarts, dedication and kindness. The future is yours, and Nana and Pop will always be right behind you.”

The Obama family didn’t only celebrate Sasha’s high school career this month, but sent the teenager off to prom as well. She stunned in a black, fitted dress with a high slit, styling the gown with hoop earrings and long, straight hair. Her date, Chris Milton, sported a black tuxedo.

The 44th president, 57, opened up about his daughter’s love life in a December 2016 interview with Raleigh, North Carolina’s WDCG radio station. “Michelle … is such a great example,” the Dreams From My Father author said at the time. “How she carries herself, her self-esteem, not depending on boys to validate how you look or not letting yourself be judged by anything other than your character and intelligence. Hopefully, I’ve been a good example in terms of how I show respect to my wife.”
